Cholla patch near Fowler
A small, privately owned patch of cholla near Fowler is a great place to look for desert birds like Curve-billed Thrasher, Scaled Quail and Greater Roadrunner, although none of them are common. You might also see Wild Turkey, Northern Mockingbird and even Coyote.

Directions: From US 50 in Fowler; go north on CO 167; when you get to CO 96 the 'Cholla field' is the corner to the right (NE corner of 167 and 96). This field can be viewed 1) from Hwy 96 for a mile or two; 2) from Hwy 167 by driving along the west side north to the canal; and 3) along the canal road (driving it east).
